right, so im wondering, if a typical standard c20xe is 150bhp in a calibra say.

would the bhp go up if you had it dyno'd in a corsa?

or would it still be 150 just loads faster coz of the weight?

it would be the same power output as the car it was previously in. It would be quicker, as you say, due to the lighter corsa shell it was in.

That's quite funny, you think it'd put out more power because it's in a different car?

I hope you mean after a remap or whatever when you mention dyno!

No, The bhp would be increased! Especially with it going into a corsa, So you would be looking at about 200bhp just by removing it from a calibra and putting it in a corsa put it in a nova and you are looking at about 220 bhp

dont be gay you people.

iknow that swapping it from car to car wouldnt give out more bhp, i was meaning if both cars were dyno'd with the same engine, if the bhp would be higher in the corsa with it being lighter.

adams on the same boat

The bhp output has nothing to do with how light a car is. Only engine modifications can change that.

No Tom, an engine is an engine. If you take it out of X and put it into something different, if nothing was changed it'll put out the same power despite it being remapped it a different car. If it was remapped in the original car it would be the same as it would be in the Corsa.

There might be a slight BHP difference if you did that, but it would probably only be a couple of horse power which would be down to the ineviteble free flowing air filter and larger diameter exhaust that always get fitted with and XE Corsa conversion. Certainly wouldnt make any real difference on the road, that comes down to the corsa being lighter.

The only time the power will be higher is if you look at the power to weight ratio of both cars, for example if you have 150bhp in a 1 ton car thats 150bhp per ton. 150bhp in a 2 ton car would be 75bhp per ton and there for lots slower.

If you get the weights for both cars you can use this to work it out, also gives you very rough idea of performance as well
