torque is pants though
not really from a 1.4
impressive too when it continues all the way past 6.5k rpm!
most dervs only rev to about 4k.
I'd hope so considering It's a petrol is it not?

torque is the transmission of power no?
I.e its the more torque the easier to put down the power/bhp of the engine??

People forget about power delivery, gear ratios, etc...
Too many people these days get hooked on 'torque' figures and think cars will be amazingly fast.
In my opinion it just often shows people's lack of mechanical knowledge and what the actual relevance of power / torque / etc is.
But in most cases its true.Torque is what pulls you along the road.
The idea for an all round quick engine is to have the BHP/torque around the same or as close to each other as possible.
Torque is what always pulls you along the road...
'BHP is a mathmatical sum of torque multiplied by rpm, divided by 5252'.
You are talking like the 2 are seperate entities... They're not.
To have a car with the same bhp and torque, you're talking about a car that's making peak power around 5252 as this is where 'torque and power cross over on the maths'.
Torque = A Force.
BHP = A mathmatical sum . (Torque * Engine Revs) / 5252.
BHP is merely a guage for a cars / engines overall performance. BHP is not a force in itself.
Jambo, I will give you all a science lesson tonight at guildford. Top Gear has convinced people that torque and BHP are 2 different things and that's just wrong.
