Why stop in race refuelling? that would be like stopping tyre changes too basicly as it takes about the same time to do everything......

3-4 sec pitstops again.

I did note this weekend, some of the stops (Rubens) esp his last "splash n dash", they were waiting on the tyres to let hm free...

Have the tyre guys got slower over the years due to having a lot more time for fuel to go in????

Sure i remember 3-4 sec stops for F1 tyre changes in the 80's n early 90's?????

because they would have to use less petrol to last longer or increase the size of petrol tanks which is not likely.

I believe they changed it for safety reasons. IE if a car crashed when full of fuel it could be dangerous. Less fuel = Safer crashes

So you mean its the FIA's way of trying to encourage the development of more efficient engines?

I thought the opposite to be honest, i thought the tyre changes this weekend were a lot quicker than they used to be tbh. In, tyres done, wait for fuel, out. Seemed to do the wheels in a couple of seconds, thought it was the nice wheel lay out (the dish things etc.)

Wrong, its for safety. They did the same sort of thing in motogp a couple of years ago, except in gp they gave them a smaller tank capacity limit.

The idea is the less fuel an engine is allowed to use in a race the lower state of tune it has to be in to meet the higher demands for efficiency. Therefore lowering power output and slowing down the racing to supposedly make it safer and closer.

In reality it took motogp a year to come up to speed again, and the capacity drop from 990cc to 800cc had no effect either. It just made engineers work harder and the first season of the 800's they were already lapping 2 seconds faster than the 990's so the rule changes did nothing.
