My Corsa has been sitting on my front garden for ages now, and I was just going to scrap it but I've just been offered an XE out of a Astra GTE for a really low price (£75), he said it was removed 5 months ago and running when removed. It was going in a Nova but lack of experience stopped him.
It has the original GTE box (what is it?).
He said he sold the ECU and loom separately.
Even if I don't XE my Corsa, is it worth buying that engine just to sell on? I've spoken to him for some time and we live local to each other so I have no reason not to trust him.
What else would I need? My Corsa is a 1.2 8v at the moment.
I don't have a lot of knowledge at all so keep it in simple terms please. Just want to add up how much I'd need to do this... Can you price the parts for me too?

You'd obviously need the loom and ECU
2.0 brakes
GSi driveshafts (and cv's? Not that sure myself!)
Engine mounts
I'm sure folk will come along and tell you more. But aye, it's certainly worth £75! Because you'll get more than that for some of the parts

You'll need to up-grade your brakes & suspension. GEt an exhaust knocked up. I think you can get a conversion kit for about £350ish! Loom & ecu wont cost you much.
Depends what you want to do???? If it was me & i wanted to XE my corsa again, i would be looking at maybe rebuilding the engine or just get a cambelt kit, water pump & oil pump ect.

You'd need the loom and ECU. (Astra GTE lump is slightly harder to wire than a cav etc)
Your suspension would be fine. You'd need bigger brakes.
You'd need the o/s engine mount. GSI drive shafts, cav inner CVs. A 16v header tank. Strengthening kit if you want it, tie bar lowering blocks if you keep it.
Then you'd need an ecotec pipe, and an adapter for the air filter/afm.
Err...
Think that's about it really.
But yeah, for £75, buy it, paint it and chuck it on eBay if you decide not to fit it.
I paid £50 for mine, and I bet I could quadruple my money tomorrow if I wanted to. If not more.
