Just got an insurance quote for my brother's MR2.
I told him a while back that I want it when he gets bored with it so just thought I'd see how much more I'd be looking at paying.
My premium this year was £719 for me (21 at the time) on my 1.2 16v SXi with all mods declared, 4 years ncb, 1 TS10 and had a license for 4 years.
The quote I just got on the Mister was £758 for me (now 22) 2ltr NA, T-bar, 10th Anniversary Edition, no mods, same no claims, same points.
How can they justify that? A 79bhp front wheel drive hatchback vs a 170ish bhp mid engine, rear wheel drive, coupe and a difference of less than 50 quid
Ever get the feeling you're being done?

Slight problem with that plan, it's my brother's and he's still quite happy with it
And as much as you'd like it to happen, the Corsa isn't getting binned
Adam, that's exactly what it is, Norwich Union won't insure more than 3 mods but they've always smashed everyone elses quotes so I'm with HIC atm, but the MR2 quote was with Norwich. I can pretty much guarantee if I got a quote from somewhere else I'd be talking at least £900, Norwich give me a quote of £517 for the Corsa but I couldn't declare all the mods so I had to use someone else

That's a bit harsh Can I ask what a TS10 is? Because £719 seems a lot for an SXi

Holy crap, your paying WAY too much. I was paying 700 on my rallye at 20 with 2 years no claims, looooads of mods declared including 1.6 engine conversion. Got a quote of 1100 this morning on a 172 cup, thats a group 16 car.

Traffic lights. It does seem a stupid amount but I phoned round quite a few and the only thing close to that was Brentacre with £840 most others wanted over a grand
