I was wanting a Cat 2 imobiliser fitted, just called an alarm company but they thought that my 97 LS would have one fitted as standard. Can anyone confirm this? There is no red dot on my keys or anything like that to suggest a transponder chip. The car does not have central locking, has no alarm or flashing tell tale light on the dash.

Yes you have a chipped key.. Pop the key open with a little screw driver and you'll see it.

My 96 1.2 Merit has a chipped key.

Always had Canons mate, as has my Dad, hes a Photo - buff always taking pics of things, his passion. Wouldnt go past a Canon tbh.
