i'm pleased with the performance but wasn't pleased with the build quaity when i first got it.
the sideskirts peeled off from the bodywork on facelifts as they weren't sealed properly in the factory, not sure if it's the same as pre-facelifts but it might be worth checking.
the interior is a nice place to be, it's very dark if you get an st3 as you have the leather recaro's, the black/carbon effect dash with red illumination (brightness is adjustable) and the black headlining/pillar covers/sunvisors.
it just feels a nice place to be. some say the driving position is a little high but i'm near enough 6ft tall and i feel fine as i've adjusted the seat to be at it's lowest setting.
i've had plays with quite a few cars and it seems to hold up well for a standard (engine wise) car, leon cupra's and ctr's were easy enough, as was some wrx impreza. but they could've been pants drivers.
check the front bumper for signs of stone chipping as the paint is quite soft and because of that, i have loads of chips on mine
overall, it's a great car with a brilliant sound, the turbo spools up nicely and the low rpm starting torque band makes it easy to drive in high gears at low rpm.

Thats because the front bumpers are painted in Poland nowhere near the actual car

astra vxr's are lovely. it's just the dash that looks outdated.
parked in front of a blue one the other day and it looked so much nicer.

i will never rule out a ctr just because of how good they are, but they lack that GT feel if thats the right way to put it that the vxr, st has with leather, good sound system etc.
i looked at the vxrs and they are slightly out my price range and all the reviews i read/seen give the st the nod over a vxr anyway

ok cheers i will take note of the sideskirt issue and paintwork thats chips easy seems to be a common thing on most hot hatches
i see yours is 253bhp, is that with a montune upgrade? are they worth it as insurance permitting its probably the first thing i will get done if i get an st

Yer the st's and vxr are a league ahead compared to toys sound insulation etc. The new shape CTR is more like them but down on power compared to them.
Think your best bet is to just go and drive a few If you get an st get a white one
