On pistonheads

I wouldnt mind one again if i downgrade in a years time, as i would have thought they would be good value for money! I sold mine which was a 2003/52 with 35k and a whole abundance of extras for £7k and it was IMMACULATE almost new that was over a year ago!

Heres an example of how ludicrously priced they are:

2006 Astra VXR dealer price:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/941519.htm

2003 70k astra

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/950162.htm

I know alot are a bit cheaper on there ,but seriously i think they are waaaaaaaaaaay over priced. Before i could understand it as they were relatively new, not that common and a high spec. But now so are all the rivals etc....

Is it just pistonheads or do they actually have a brain disfunction?!

I just think cars are coming down to a realistic price now. I mean seriously 20 grand for a well equipped sporty hatch is stupid money! who actually has £20,000 lying around to buy car that was in essence being made to appeal to a working class family? Certainly no one from a working class family has a straight 20k to blow on a car!

Cars were overpriced with credit in mind, They didnt seem to take into consideration the only reason stuff like that was selling is because people who couldnt actually afford it were buying their products on credit.

This recession will bring the prices of things back down to a realistic level.

Im on about in 2003 etc too. Go back to the 80s with astra GTE's, RS turbos, R5's etc and they were priced with the masses in mind - people could afford to buy them outright without getting credit or loans to buy them. over the past 20 years prices have continued to inflate a lot faster than peoples wages have.

PH is always overpriced, but the prices published are always more than the seller actually wants.

Plus people on PH never have any actual money, they just want to swap all the time for stupid things.

I put my V6 corsa gsi on there and had some fruit wanting to swap a suzuki vitara wideboy, ford focus 1.4, and an old vectra 1.8...

Nova,s are now fetching more than Corsa's the price of cars is silly tbh

if i had bought a nova with the same spec as my corsa (Condition, model etc) i would have been looking at paying over £2,000 for it

Dogshit, do you realise how expensive cars were in the 80's early 90's?

Take a Corsa GSi for example, base spec one in 1992 was £11,500 quid. Good value for money? No. Astra GSi Mk3, 15k? Again no way

These aren't exactly good cars either yet the prices were ridiculous. I think when the Nova SR came out in 83 the starting price was £8k

If you look at price of a Corsa VXR, you can get one drive out for £13,900 now, that's a £2,400 difference in 17 years and a Corsa GSi is certainly no VXR in spec and terms of the actual drive.
