Good cars.
I think all the 2004 ones are 225 bhp but some 2003 and earlier cars are only 210.

They're basically a Golf, but in a better looking shell.

Quick, reliable and well built.

I think 5k will get a fairly average one. Certainly not gonna be in amazing condition.

I've heard they can hanlde 300+ with standard internals no problem, and there are plenty running close to 400bhp with a lot of the internals changed.

Heres a 265 bhp Cupra R for £5,800.

Yup sure is...But 350bhp on standard Rods Is near the Limit...

330bhp will be fine...But its like something around £8,000 for a Gt2871R Setup With Race Manifold And Uprated Pistons, rods ect..Thats the full Lot..(last time I enquired about it)

But you can get around 400bhp from the Gt28..Either the 0.62 A/r or the 0.82 a/r

A k04 Hybrid would see you near the 300bhp market but there sadly aint a Uprated manifold(stock) for the K04 so the OEM chokes the power..

Theres all ways the IHI?

sorry to thread hi-jack but eck, whats the leon like compared to the type-r?

Both are cars I'm looking at getting next,I know the CTR handles better but I'd quite like a turbo plus how easy it is to mod etc. Also think the CTR looks nicer aswell. What do you prefer?

big eck is the best person to ask as he has the lcr and his gf the ctr, i havnt driven either but been out in a ctr and looked into buying both. overall the ctr seems to more reliable, i was really put off the leon after reading some owner reviews saying just how unreliable they were but that did mostly apply to the 210bhp models, alot of owner reiews i read on the later 225bhp models were saying they had years of hassle free and fun driving.

neither car is exactly luxury on the inside, but the leon is better equipped and much better looking on the outside, like you say the ctr is the better handler and it also has a fantastic engine and gearbox combo but the leon has 225bhp from alot lower down the rev range and will be a better day to day car, i know somebody who had a ctr for a while an has since had an e46 m3, subaru impreza and now a mk5 golf gti and he still raves about the ctr.

best thing you can do is research and test drive both
