Those horrid heaps are worth silly money over here for whatever bizarre reason. I'm surprised someone's ratting one that badly and in our climate to be honest.
Wants sorting out, painting two tone in cream and a nice metalic, decking on some period/Cal look alloys and a flat six shoving up it's arse.

Cream and mettalic green with a candy red pinstripe between the two

Exactly, that looks like a heap. All the people who have ruined these campers by doing this stuff to them need a vehicle version of social services to come round and take their car off them.
These things should be restored to their original glory, or even better, made nicely up to date, not turned into a pile of scrap with wheels.

best thing is i bet he paid hardly anything for it like that. and if tidied up well depending on year, how sought after that style is they go for over £25k.
if me id either chuck a 2332cc drag motor on a set of 48ida's, or run a marty stagg, pauter or autocraft full turbo'd drag lump!
i wouldnt say rat look is gay either. i know of a couple of vw bugs that dont 'look all that' but run 10/11sec quarters!
