What would you expect in yerms of mileage from a petrol engine that's been given a bit of stick but nothing mega, oil changed every 10k and mainly motorway miles.
French btw
Might get a VAG when my mot is due but the pug will be hitting 80k by then. Or, i could put it through an mot and keep it as a motorway muncher and buy something quick for the weekends.

Engine wise, being French shouldn't mean too much, only difference with it being French is that you'll have had as many electrical problems as you have done in miles!!

80k on a 4 cyclinder engine is nothing. Engine should be last thing to fail tbh!

You say that but my relatively well maintained (serviced once a year) 1.4 8v's (both of them) have failed on me, one at 115k (60bhp) and the other at 77k (80bhp)

Yer serviced one a year, but how often was it topped up with oil or coolant? Might have been running nearly dry on alot of occasions. I always maintained, if topped up with fairly fresh oil, any engine will take a battering. Every car/motorbike i have had has had regualr oil changes, and not nailing from stone cold, and they have all coverd mega milage and never had problems!
