that is an expansion vessel, all that does is give the water somewhere to expand too

I still cant suss out why you would have a filling loop an expansion vessel AND a header tank,

you cant have both, unless he has a separate system that somehow uses the same boiler for a closed hot water system and an open central heating circuit, but i have never seen one of these. they are kind of mutually exclusive.

the powermax uses a thermal store for the hot water, they are fucking weird things, Ive only seen one of them and I was ripping it out so I didnt take much notice

that is one funked up pipe set up lol

,from what i can see. sealed heating system open hot water, maybe poor mains water pressure in the area?

never seen one like this before, ususally all unvented..

the mains pressure cant be that bad if you have managed to fill the system to over 2 bar on that guage, nuless it was hot when the picture was taken

if the mains pressure is not fast enough to fill the hot water storage to meet demand then i can see the need for a header tank, makes sense to me.
