I've been informed by my parents back home that I've had a notice through a driving conviction. I had a voice mail and I just expected it to be for a speeding offence. Needless to say I was gutted. So i wrang home to be told I've been busted for ignoring a solid white line on the A470 - Rhayder heading to Aberystwyth. I have no recollection of doing this, though I admit to being on that road.
I'm not some moron who breaks white lines to overtake slow people especially on them roads, I wait till its safe to do so.
Anyone ever had this?

no photograph so his word against mine. I might just say I'll go to court rather than paying the fine and taking the points.

But how have they caught you if there's no visual evidence as such? Id try going against it personally.

TS is traffic signs so it doesn't look so bad, I would guess comparable to speeding from an insurance point of view; although exactly how comparable will depend on your insurer.
If you go to court and lose you'll have the same fine and points plus costs. It's cheaper to plead by post. Particularly as you don't really have a defence.

Don't they need to take you to court before they can convict you with something.

You get cautioned & read your rights & reported for said offence then a few days later an 'offer' comes through for 3pts & £60. I stuck my letter in the bin.
Seriously if its that vaugue & you (OP) didnt get pulled for it just ignore it, have your day in court if it ever gets taken that far!! If it does then go in & explain to the judge you have no idea what your doing there & you cant recall any offence. He who tries etc!

Tell them you swerved to avoid debris in the road that otherwise would have caused you to have an accident.
Or another favorite is you swerved to avoid a dog as that is one of the only animals you are not 'expected' to run over

if you plead guilty by post you just pay the fixed penalty. if you plead not guilty you will have to go to magistrates court and stand. Either represented by a lawyer or like i normally do just represent yourself.
you stand a good chance of it being thrown out due to no evidence. usually an officer has to pull you over to charge you with something like that.
