how tyre pressure makes a difference to your mpg?
just went and pumped my tyres up for the first time since i got it, my Front driver side wheel was on 22psi should be at 30 according to the book.

less rolling resistance when at the correct pressure

ah right, but how does that make your mpg differ?

more air makes it more solid meaning less of the tyre tread actually touches the road surface thus making it easier for the engine to move if that makes sense. as there is less friction (might not be the word in looking for) between the tyres and the road.

ah right that makes it more clearer =]
so theres less strain on the engine cos of less friction?
Cheers!

because the engine will have to work harder to make the wheels turn.
id liken it to kicking an underinflated football.
if you hit a properly inflated one softly it will roll a long way, if you hit a deflated one softly it wont travel as far.
youll need to exert more energy to kick the ball the same distance.

well turn a corner with a half deflated tyre, do the same with a tyre on proper pressure. its easier to turn the wheel. also easuer for the engine to turn the wheel aswell kinda thing.
i mean id be suprised if you actually noticed a huge difference in mpg unless previously you were below 20psi and now at 30psi
