i have been told then can help improve braking by drawing hit away from the drum.

Not required on the Corsa, the front brakes do most of the work.. The mini has drums up front which is where these come into play.

I wouldnt bother to be honest.

No real gains unless your REALLY going for it.

You can get uprated drums for a Corsa, but there isn't a lot of point as the rear brakes are really only there so you can have a handbrake.
