well its that time of the year when i service the car again,
I usually get my oil from halfords as i have a trade card, i usually get the orange bottle 10/40, but wondering if i should go for the better oil for once maybe oart synthetic or the 5/40 full synthetic.
Is it really necessary

I wouldn't be using that orange bottle, thats mineral oil IIRC - I'd be using the green 10W40 part synthetic stuff.

+1 unless they have swapped the colours round recently.
Always ran halfords oil in the corsa with no problems

green bottle part synthetic 10w40 is what i would recommend if u wanna use the halfords stuff,

15w40 is also fine I switched to it when mine started burning oil
However 10w40 would be better as its thinner for cold starts

I had 5w30 in my car for a while and it seemed to burn a bit more oil.
Had 10w40 before Christmas and it hasn't lost a drop.

C is a newer engine though and the tolerances will be better so 5w30 should be fine

yea, its bollox. Halfords changed it so people use fully synthetic. I have had a go at head office for it but the wont change it.
I just tell people to take the 10w/40...
