I had my catalytic convertor changed on 12/02/2008, the motors just been in for an MOT and its failed all round on the emissions! the car has only covered about 7000 miles in that time. the only engine work its had is a new headgasket. surely the cat shouldnt be knackered already, right?

did it fail by alot? if not:

make sure all the connections on the exhaust pipe are properly sealed so that there not drawing in any air, and also try getting some of that pre-mot fuel suppliement that is brings the emmisions down!

if it failed by quite alot yes may be cat or lambda sensor fcuked

Cheap pattern cats tend to last about 5 minutes.. Mine was done on my Omega just before I bought it and its shot to pieces already.. Probably about 2 years old.
