No they just want him dead and quickly.

Of course there's pride in giving, both between the parent and the child and as a display to other people.

I just hope the kid can drive!

Its possible to be young and not a twat.

Most 17yrs olds would be a cock with a mental car. But thats not to say all of them would be.

Id also expect this thread to be full of jealous comments from people saying he doesnt know the true value of money

Was that the guy who I went to school with who's dad bought him a 360 Spyder when he was 21?

If he isn't as cautious as he claims the overal factor will most likely be speed if he comes a cropper. Like most young drivers pushing the envelope a bit he'll probably get it wrong but due to the nature of the car it'll be at 150 rather than 50mph. He'll go through a house or two before he stops.

Hopefully for his and his parents sake he's not a silly boy though.

I think Ash had the right idea. Start him on a nice slow 318, then maybe a 330 or similar for a while and progress to an M3 after a year or two.

Not all that slow Ben and possibly the most unpredictably arse-out and dangerous vehicles i've ever driven Ben.

All the RWD comments are making me laugh. It's not going to oversteer without warning, it's still a road car which will be setup to understeer before it oversteers and it's go enough electronics in it to keep it on the road pretty much whatever you do.

But what about the fact that all fast cars have an inbuilt system to detect the age of the driver and force the car into thr side of a house if they are under 21?

I think we all would. Money isnt everything tho - Bets on he kills himself.

I don't. I've paid for all my cars myself with no help from mummy or daddy. The only help I had was £65 for a block of 6 lessons for my 17th birthday. Everything else I have bought and paid for with my money.
