I know the are some or are previous owners of some clio sports on here...was just wondering what sort of problems they suffer from...thinking of buying one of these when vts is sold but dont wanna go from one problematic car to the next.

Have also been looking at mgf/mg tf's too as a summer stop gap that the missus can have after ive finished with it

dont know what else to buy really cant get a decent 1.6 sport for £1500 these days

What problems have you had with your VTS?

IIRC Make sure the 172 has had its cambelt changed in the first 5 years 60k.

The 182s rear exhaust mounts possibly?

i have a vtr and tested a standard 172, didnt feel as fast (although it was faster) and understeered more. getting out of a vts into a 172 i think you'd be dissappointed. you need a cup for sure

You'd be far better with an MX-5 rather than an MGTF - it'll handle a million times better

stubbsy05- inner cv as soon as i had it
anti roll bar bush...but battery problem so replaced battery, 2 fan belts, bottom pulley, adjuster pulley soon to be replacing alternator if thats the last thing fingers crossed...most recently fuel cap has broken bending the key to get it out, side skirts coming apart...ive lost count of the times ive been stranded...breaking down on a busy roundabout was the best...trying to push the car out the way and some twat almost takes me out...cant rely on it, had a crazy near miss in it...BAD OMEN! thing has done nothing but piss me off...and it doesnt feel fast

they do have a few problems, but they are all pretty simple diy to sort, cam belts can be expencive but if you go to a specilist they arn't that costly.

exhaust systems are made of cheese but if your replacing then stainless systems are readily available everywhere

should be aux belt kit every 36k and cambelt kit every 72k
service interval is 12k

just did a 182 this week that snapped a conrod at 37,000miles. was an 05 plate so out of warranty, but renault did pay 40% of the bill.
We dont have many problems with them, most are easy fixes or due to lack of maintenance/ someone fucking about with it. So buy a looked after one, with history and you'll be alright.

ive already had a 1.4 corsa, if anything id go for a 1.6...dont like the 206.

Feel that fixing up the VTS for sale and getting a ph1/ph2 172 wud be the plan. 172 cups look cool...doubt i cud afford a 182. See what the sax is going to cost me first
