Theoretically speaking....

If you got pulled over whilst being on the phone, get 3 points and a producer; If they put "Citroen Saxo" and the numberplate one digit wrong (04 instead of 05) on the producer, could you claim against it if you were driving a vauxhall corsa?

Just curious, honest.

Was it a traffic cop?

Did you get interviewed\questioned in the back of their car? If so isnt it all recorded?

Did you sign it as in you agreed to the charge?

why would they put citroen saxo instead of vauxhall corsa? they're police officers, not stupid traffic wardens.

unless this really happened

You wont get away with a producer.. i.e. you still need to produce your documents as you were actually driving a car at the time unless you want to argue that it wasnt you? Good luck with that one

If a NIP has invalid vehicle details then you can start arguing the toss..

Surely a man would try and get out of it rather than paying fines / points.

Would this be 9 points alex

I have heard that if you go down and say you were issued a producer, but you werent on the phone and you think thye might have made a mistake as the car on it isnt yours...maybe they saw someone in a saxo and pulled you thinking it was them....
you might just about get away with it

When i got 3 points for crossing a white line in my corsa, the copper put vauxhall nova, and put m17 instead of m71 for my plate, i didnt bother paying it etc, and went to court for it along with my other offence the week after (70 in a 30) got a £100 fine and 55 day ban for both offences

It's a clerical error. Dont pay it, go to court, officer turns up, says yes your worship, the vehicle was a ... or the registration was.... , magistrate takes this into account, you then have to stand there and say you werent driving, werent speeding or on phone or whatever, which you were, and tell the magistrate the reason you have pleaded not guilty is because the officer wrote the number down wrong. Magistrate will find you guilty and it will cost you much more than just paying.
