yeah sorry daymoon. i just cant understand some of the utter waffling people do and then click the reply button without thinking about the rubbish they have just typed.
sorry.
vectras are good cars. the diesel engines in them arent bad. 100k isnt really a great deal of mileage on them.

tbh I wouldn't touch a Vectra on 100k if you're living on a tight budget.
reasons why?
Because he's an idiot who regurgitates shit he reads on the internet.
As said by the sensible people, fuel pump is an expensive job, other than that they are decent cars. Good workhorses, we look after loads at work, taxi's and rep-mobiles and apart from normal wear and tear they are fine.

daymoon - it was a petrol 1.8 SRi that had previously been a repmobile. Had done 100k in 3 years iirc. This was going from a 520i SE to Vectra though.
Like I said and I'll say again I personally wouldn't buy a Vectra with 100k on it because of 1) a bad experience with a Vectra 2) I don't want a high mileage car.
End of.

So your comparing a 1.8 petrol to a 2.0 dti?
Any 100k miles car is going to feel tired, whether it be one of your beloved M3's, a 12v (ftw), a Bugatti or a Vectra.
Bushes are rubber, it wears out, things get play in them. Its wear and tear, shit happens.
All you ever talk about is, I read somewhere this is better, read somewhere this is bad. You have no idea on cars, you talk rubbish.

The interior just felt shabby and the manifold went on it, that is as much as I know.
I didn't realise people weren't allowed their own personal opinions any more

I'm sorry - but how do people learn about cars? Reading or experiencing, or both. Idiot.
Oh, but that is just my opinion, which must be wrong.

My Elite is an ex-rep mobile, runs fine Had it since 150k, now on 182k, other than a crank sensor playing up atm, its fine. Interior was spotless, no rips in the leather, everything 'works'
MV6 I have is an ex-plod one, on 177k. If anything, runs better than the Elite! And thats had a good 160k of abuse from the Police! Interior is somewhat shabby (holes in the dash & other bits cut away for police equipment), but I don't mind.

my mate has just sold his, was a good car. it took a full 50k of abuse in his ownership until the end when it gave up and the gearbox went shagged (there was a hole in the top of it) the lad he sold it to has fixed it now and its reet. it was on just over 100k when he got rid

I'm all for learning stuff, but what experience do you have of them? Apart from, apparantly this, apparantly that? How do you know what your reading is true.
The internet is full of complete shit, car forums are full of rubbish assumptions and guesswork, whats the point spreading the tripe around more with more guesswork.
Anyway I'm out, can't be arsed ruining this thread further.

you are totally correct though joe. you havent said any internet rumours like the other person has.
id actually say theyve never drove a vectra. have no idea what they are and are just posting to add to a post count or so their name appears as the last poster.
you cant compare a petrol engine to a diesel. you cant compare a 90k 1litre 12v to a diesel. i mean its just basics that.
yeah you need to learn. but you wont learn anything by filling posts with internet rumours and trying to rubbish the people with experiences of these cars and engines. joe and others, we aint posting for the sake of saying something..........

couldnt agree more nic
if your serious about getting a vec and want a diesel one, best bet would be to test drive one, if your budget will stretch have a look at the SRI 130 its a 2.2DTI engine with 123 bhp fair few on ebay for under 2k. if theyve been kept up to then 120k examples wont be any different to 60k examples, follow your instincts with it, if it dont look or feel right then walk away

used these at my old work, both 2.0L, the first one got stolen but the clutch did go on it, then the second one, the clutch as gone twice and the gearbox had to be replaced, they were cheap cars to buy, but work done on it doubled that
