So today i went to Fords of winsford with a mate.. strolling along and there were a few Fiesta St's knocking about for not very much money..

we got the keys for a couple started them up but they both seemed to rock a bit on turn over

is that normal? the whole car kinda shook on both..

Is there anything to look out for on them?

Amazing car. My mate has one and yeah his kind of rumbles when started up. He's got the Mountune 185 upgrade now, its incredibly fun on the contry roads. Pops and burbles galore aswell

Yeah mine shakes a bit when you start it up. And as CG said, they can idle a bit lumpy sometimes. It's normal though.

st's have a lumpy idle, gives the engine/exhaust a ''sporty tone''.

same with mine.

How does the ST compare to yours for performance Kurt?

Been looking at them myself, think I'd trust the Ford more for reliability and cheapness... would add a full exhaust, sort induction and some eibach springs.. should be good for 170BHP then

If you have never drove anything nippyish, then you will think they are fooking rapid (like jumping from a 1.4 saxo to one) but otherwise it will leave you abit dissapointed as you are thinking '2.0 in a little hatch'.....But as a second hand buy, i think they are good and they look the part too. But the overal drive left me very dissapointed. If you just want to knock about in it to shops and back or to work, then get one. Cheap insurance too i think considering the image.

But if power is on your mind or a thrilling drive, i would look like the clio sport. You can get a clio for same money, but you will have to look a coulpe of years older than the same fiesta st/ or abit more miles!

The one i test drove: The clutch pedal sempt different everytime you pressed it (like there was something loose) and the engine managment was going mad throwing up every error under the sun, and it had only done 13k!

But i view another one today, and it sempt alot better so i dunno what to think to them?

ive not been out in mine and him in his yet.. so not had a play

but from being a passenger id say it would be intresting.. theres a a paragraph from autocar that sums it up quite well

quote:
Reasonably convincing. The turbo means that while the Punto’s peak power can’t match, say, the Ford Fiesta ST, it has a little more torque, so it feels just as nippy as the Ford – quicker, even, lower down the rev rage - without ever melting asphalt.
