Basically if i dont pay my monthly payment by Thursday... then my insurance is cancelled... and due to me not being able to afford £194 a month i have no choice!

Neway, am i better off ringing them up and canceling it before hand or just leaving it? Also would i be charged for cancellation?

Obviously i will loose my deposit lol

Any info appreciated

I would think they would still want to charge you for the time between your last payment and when you cancel. You may get some money back though if cancelling before the end of the policy.

Was thinking that but surely £500 deposit 3 months ago would be enough to cover that ?

Yeah, £194 a month is pretty mad.
Direct Line will let you miss one payment, as long as it's made with (or by) the next month's payment, are you sure your company doesn't allow something like that?

The deposit doesnt cover that, been in the exact same boat as you, paying more or less same amount, I just suspended it and let it run out, never heard nothing after that, that was 4 years ago.

I pay monthly and in Oct last year, the direct debit failed twice due to no money in my account, I just rung them and said take the money on this date as I don't get paid til then and they were fine with that.

if u supend your insurance does this mean it isnt cancelled? and how long can you get it suspended for as this would save me having to re-open an insurance policy.

Quinn will be arseholes, they couldnt understand that all i wanted to do was change the car on the policy, and told me i had to end it and take out a anew policy. Douchebags
Just ring up, cancel and then get some quotes from other places. Remember make sure you dont leave it on the road without insurance.

suspended is when you can't drive your car, but pay for insurance

basically you get to keep your NCB or build one up!

You might have signed into a credit agreement. Typically this is what smaller broker type insurers do - taking a loan out on your behalf. You might be hit with a large cancellation fee.

Not true, with elephant ive done it a few times when I sold the car and never bought another one, cancelled the Driect Debit and then rang them up when I got a new car and it carried on from there and I still got a full years NCB, that is from experience.
