I assume the majority of them are rep mobiles? Im just looking on AutoTrader and you can get 2.2TiD SE, anything from 51 - 54 plates in the region of £2-£3000, most have over 100k on them but surely on these engines thats nothing isnt it?!

Just seems an amazing price thats all.....

The vast majority of saabs at that age have 100k+ it's hard to find one lower.
51-52 plates will be the old shape like mine, newer will be the vectra based ones(unless it's a 9-5, they all look the same).

SE is fairly high specced, on the old shape anyway, they do have some expensive problems though.

Engines are the same as all the other diesels these day in that respect, should last for much longer and plenty of people on the forums to tell you they're on 170k but other components like suspension and bushes will all be needing replaced.

Most saabs have full saab service history, loads more than any other manufacturer i've seen so they've normally been well looked after.

They are the same as the diesel engines in the late vectra b/early vectra c. Diesel pumps are prone to going on them and its very pricey to fix. An exchange pump will set you back £1600 from vauxhall and they take quite a while to change too. Other than that they are pretty sound and pull well. EGR valves can be an issue on them too mind you

So similar to the 2.0DTi I have now in my Astra then?

I assume the 1.9TiD is the same as the Astra/Vectra 1.9CDti (150)?

And John thats what I was thinking about the generally been looked after, you dont see Saabs getting ragged around very often, normally driven by grandpa's on the shopping run
