VW's website brings up an example of 36mnths @ £249, with deposit of 4.2k & £11k balloon.

Not bad really if you change car every 3 years!!

Check pistonheads mate, few sold for 36odd it is a bargain but not so if you get me? I haven't actually bought it yet, just looking around but I fully expect to have the same deal again when I'm ready to buy (gotta sell my car first and also buy a new van). The car market really is on it's arse, I wouldn't go rushing in and buying anything at the moment as most dealers will really give you a bargain if you push enough.
