I think the best way to go about this is if you show us a picture of you, then we can decide what car would suit you.

Thats the usual procedure anyway.

might aswell go and have a look if you wanted to.

i've never been to one but i cant really imagine you get a good knowledge of the past or get to see what the car is actually like to drive etc...

Just a shot in the dark seeing what forum we're all on - a Corsa?!

May be a bit of a controversial suggestion...

In all seriousness, get some rough quotes online for some well known small cars and see what works out cheapest to insure, then look up tax etc on Parkers or something to work out what will be most affordable for you.

Unless stated otherwise you normally get 24 hours these days to find any problems.

There is a car auction place in radcliffe where i live. Never been but my mate bought his wife's last 2 cars from there. He said they are spot on so as long as you do your research you will end up with a minter.

all older cars are sold as seen but some of the new ones coming from dealers will have a 1 hour to check the car over after the sale this will be stated on start of the sale

you will not get to test drive the cars ,they are driven through the auction and you can listen to them then try and ask the drivers what the clutch ect feels like as some will tell you if there fcuked .but you can go to the auction about 1-2 hours before a sale starts to have a look around the cars and see any damage ect as the auction will be very quick .
most auctions will not let you start a car before it goes through the sale so its all down to a few mins on what the engine is like

hope this helps

Thanks.

I think i'm just going to leave it to be honest. I'll stick to auto trader and take somebody with me who knows about all this stuff.

Although, I have seen a few on here that your all selling might have a proper look now

The peterborough one i went to had about 100 cars up for grabs, drove them through one at a time, engine was revved through the range (not chavvy just a bit like an mot), no questions asked of the drivers, all the electronics were shown to be working / not working i think, and then you bid for it while its there in front of you.

I was going to buy something but tbh there wasnt any bargains going about, i had seen cheaper private selling cars in the paper that day.

Before the auction the place opened about 4 hours before, so people could go for a good look round the car park
