Decision time. As some of you will have read, i made an offer on an appartment. Got them down 20% and have carpets and blinds thrown in too.

My job is 70% secure i would imagine, we are not too phased by the credit crunch.

Do i put the deposit down tomorrow? I'm just worried if i lose my job i could lose my home. Such a big decision.

I'd say no as you are guaging your opinion on purcahsng a property depending on a poll on a car forum.

Do you own homework and it'll pay off.

People still are buying properties very day now its just whether you feel comfortable to doing this.

The market will drop further but if you have a substancial deposit you shouldnt be affected if you have some reasonable equity in the property

I should fuckin hope so too! What nob-head take the carpets and blinds that typically won't fit at their next gaff? I simply wouldn't buy the place if they weren't included... Haggling over a few hundred... twats.

I say go for it tho! You could lose your job anytime.

I'm still not sure. And because i'm not sure don't think i shall be going through with it. The flat is perfect and at the right price but just worried about parking.

Depends if it's cheap enough. The market is still set to drop further and while lending is more difficult mortgage rates won't be ideal.

I would strongly argue that renting is a better idea in the current climate.

Don't jump in on the basis your job is a random percentage safe.

If we continue on the path we are doing there is literally no job in the entire world that is 'safe'. Having said that, as has been said, you could lose your job at any time it's all about having the balls to do something you want to do and following it through.

Gone through with it. Was originally up for 125k i'm told and advertised at 100k now. They wanted 95k but got them down to 85k.

Put the deposit down this morning Carpets going down next week.

I've done a bit of a deal with them where i can park in one of the houses garage until my garage is built. The garage is costing me around 10k outright.
