My car was recently in the garage for a new aux belt and tensioner. They had it in for 2 days, removing pumps, engine mounts, water hoses etc and finally got it fitted.
£300 later, took it a drive and noticed the whole car was vibrating a lot, thought they had fucked the engine mount somehow. Only drove it 5 miles, as I had a hell of a drinking session coming up, yay.
Put the car back into the garage for new back brakes. They did that fine, drove 20 miles, and then went to reverse outside my house. All of a sudden, a hell of a scraping noise. Turned the car off to find the PAS pump pulley had fallen onto the engine mount, luckly not damaging anything.
What had happened was the 3 bolts that hold the engine mount to the block have sheared, and are now flush into the block . They told me at the garage that someone had been at them before, and one of them was in with liquid metal, so they put it back in like that.
It was fine before with 2 good bolts holding it, so they must of fucked it putting the mount back on?
Im refusing to pay any labour charges for this to be fixed, could be an engine out job to get those bolts out, I can refuse if its them that fucked it?
Sorry for the essay

When my car has ever been in and he's found a bodged part, the guy has either rung me to ask me what I want to do or just put it back properly. A garage should not be bodging stuff on, whether it was like that before or not, IMO.
I can only assume it's them that's fucked it. It was fine before it went in...

chemical metal on bolts? who the fuck would be so stupid to do that? I would say they are bullshitting you mate, they have snapped beacuse they werent tightened down properly and the bolts have been taking the weight of the engine and not the mount like its been designed too. You though about trading standards? A second oppinion from anothe mechanic will work very well in your favour too

for a back street garage, charging £170 for an aux belt I'm surprised they're still in buisness,
Or do they have big windows out front?
Because they saw you coming, I wouldnt be to bothered about falling out with them chris, tell them to get it sorted.
