Are you not going shopping before you go away for clothes or anything like that? If you take each other you can either see what she wants or just buy it there. At least then you have done the token thing and even if there's nothing to open on the day you can have agreed to both spend money on each other. Plus you get to decide how skimpy her clothes are on holiday, what she smells like and what she looks like in the bedroom with this approach.
