We're heading down to my dad's villa in the south of France for new year, and were planning on doing something for a couple of days when we first get there
First thought was skiing.... but I've tried all the hotels in the ski resort that my dad recommended and they were full
There are some others nearby, but I don't know anything about them at all and don't know how good/big they'll be
The other option is going to Barcelona for a couple of days...only about a 3 hour drive away.
Has anyone been? Is it worth it? What is there to do? Would 2 days/nights be enough?
Cheers

I just can't decide
I REALLY want to go skiing....but Adam doesnt ski...so I'm not sure if he's too keen I keep forgetting that bit
Don't really know much about Barcelona, and we're not particularly good at sight seeing
Let me know what you think of it.
How long are you going for?

I loved Barcelona when i went in March, we were there for the football so didn't do much tbh. Spent one day walking round the city looking and another doing the tour of the Nou Camp. The underground was brilliant for getting around places.
Place turns into a sordid orgy of debauchery at night though; hookers, drug dealers, pick pockets the lot.

Sounds right up Adam's street
I might look into a bus tour...
although we tried to do that when we were in Dublin and ended up hungover and sleeping in a shopping centre
I still have our tickets though so can go back and use them

I'd opt for Barca, but thats because I can't ski or should I say....have never tried.
Barcelona is am amazing city, but its rife with theives and pickpockets day and night so you have to really be on the ball.
My parents used to have a place in France near St Tropez......but they sold it as they weren't using it enough. I miss the free holidays!

We were recommended the bus tours actually by the guy in our hotel, there's lots of them.
We spent must of our time in the Hard Rock Cafe though getting drunk

Honestly mate take heed of that advice, if you're walking about at night keep your hands in your pockets even if your drunk. The amount of stories we heard about folk being robbed of every penny they had was unreal.

It pretty bad in the day too, especially on the underground.

where abouts is the villa? are they the only two options you have? there are lots of places in the south of france that you could go to that are easy to get to by train.

It's in a wee town about an hour away from Toulouse.
There are other options, but they are the two favourites at the moment, with not too long a drive, and we're (I'm) having trouble picking between two....I don't want to put more into the mix!!!
