No. As all car windows are tinted slightly from the factory (for example, say that they are tinted 20%, although it is usually more than this) , it would mean that your windows are only letting in 100% - 35% - 20% = 45%, which is below the legal limit.

Front windows must let in 70% light.
The front windows on my kitted 'B' let in 60-65% IIRC and when the previous owner (Who is a mate) got pulled for them they told him he could not be given points unless there was less than 50% light being allowed in, and advised they were removed, that was at least 2 years ago, and the car still have them fitted today.
Said tints (On the kitted one)

If they knew they we're illegal - then why didnt he get an on the spot fine and points?....Pulling him for his tints and knowing there illegal but not doing anything, Seems like wasting his time to me?

you need to remember that green tinted standard windows already have a tint of sumthing like 5% so that needs to be included!
If you want to keep your tints, just bear with it! its coming the end of the years so they just want to get some money in! 2 more weeks and they wont be arsed for another year!

in order to achieve a prosecution, police require evidence. To prove the windows are below legal limit would require a Tintmaster which provides a reading upon which to report for offences. I would not prosecute without having had the Timtmaster out, but would strongly advise you to remove them instead, as sometimes i do have a Tintmaster in the car!

If you have a modified car the police will be dicks to you, its just the way it goes. I was out with an old friend with a group of his mates and their cars and a police car showed up and gave every one of them a producer, they were just sat in a carpark having a chat.
If your cars modified and looks chavvy then your in for a rough ride, I saw a range rover with some STUPID tints in the front the other day and he drove right past a few police cars and they didnt even take a 2nd look.

I'm sorry but that's bollocks
I've just gone almost 12 months without being pulled, other than last Saturday I hadn't been pulled apart from a drink driving spot check last December where they were pulling every car that went past, pulled me, asked had I been drinking in the past 8 hours, I said no, he let me on my way. Then nothing until last Saturday when I got pulled because he couldn't see my seatbelt. He walked over to the car, 'I thought when I saw the seats you probably had harnesses but I had to check', 'No problem, officer' then he went back to his car a let me go on my way.
All that was in my modified Corsa with an exhaust that I got told at my last MOT was borderline on volume
If you drive a modified car and are a dick with police when they pull you up, they'll be a dick with you or you do sometimes get power mad ones that do target modified cars but they're not all like that, I've only ever been pulled once just as a random spot check, any other time there has been a reason that I have been perfectly willing to accept that I was in the wrong or that I could've been in the wrong from their point of view ie. last week with the harnesses

i got pulled 5 times in 3 days when i bought my car as it was registered 120 miles away all the cops had a laugh with me about it
Other than that i got pulled for coming off a roundabout too fast untill a nice old couple stopped and backed me up that i was at standstill on the minature roundabout before pulling away. The copper simple said oh sorry my mistake sorry to keep you.
My car is slammed and modified but i dont get any problems, i get followed every now and again but thats just them checking the car is insured which i agree with as there so many tax/insurance dodgers around im happy to see them doing their job etc etc
Only get pulled if your car looks unroad worthy or you drive like a twat

And have a 3/4 sized number plate
I've hand washed my Corsa for the 1st time in about 3 weeks. So now the small number plate stands out. I gave the "osifer" some BS about i've been to a meet yesterday and i've been very busy today clearing out my garage (which i have) and that i've just not had time to put the standard one back on. He let me off I think he fancied me anyways
