Ive got shorter standard ones but still legal spacings etc just the gaps at each end removed and they look quite good and I haven't had any hassle for them and I have been pulled over twice with them on and nothing was said.

You'll still get pulled for that kind of font which is a pain in the arse, just buy the UK font in pressed style as there now legal

german plates have been done to death, pressed uk plates like those on the seat are much better imo
