mate I just saw this and what a load of shite. Top gear are quite bad for their facts and figures, but just 10 mins ago they said part of the reason they're using a diesel is because they're stronger. OK, but then they go onto why they chose an automatic:
'Because there's no clutch to burn out'
Not clued up on auto transmissions but surely that's a load of poppycock?

there is no clutch in auto box is there?
edit: there is but its used differently to manual gear box

nope. no clutch in auto. viscous coupling between engine and box so engine doesnt stall when car not moving
