About to renew, found a good price (£320 with Chris Knott,250 excess £60 cheaper than renewal) but he mentioned being under 25 a few times, the thing is in 25 2 month after renewal. Anyone up on it and know if it would be worth the hassle trying to sort some interim 2 month deal out?

No

Just like full NCB.

No advantages over 2-3years ncb.

The only thing worth having is protected ncb, and legal cover

Cheers, thought it would be the case. I fancy protected no claims, I think that would be worst part of claiming, losing 5 years then getting about 100 quid back after paying the excess. Right joke this insurance lark.

I know Churchill will insure you on a modified car from 25

I think most do regard 25 as being the age to make it cheaper. It varies tbh as said.

This is one advantage of being 26 and maximum NCB, clean license, insurance is peanuts.

Agreed it does make a difference as you are more likely to get insured on higher risk cars at more reasonable rates/ For example you could be 21 with full no claims and it will be cheaper to insure a skyline (for example purposes) at 25 oposed to 21.

Profession plays a big part in your quotes too

I actually asked this question to a broker at Brentacre and also my ex worked for an under writer and said the exact same thing.

Damm sure. Being over 25 you also get fully comp cover in Europe, and all the benefits of courtesy car etc etc. Can't fob you off anymore with stupid excuses about not being old enough.

You're no longer a young driver, so it should make a bit of a difference

19-24 is classed as a "young driver" so on further research I reckon it would, but then 10%max (i reckon) of 320 isn't worth the hassle. How would I go about getting 2 month insurance?

Just had a quick look and it says vehicle must not be modified. Looks like I'll just renew, bit of hard lines I'm having, but not end of the world.

When I was getting quotes for my skyline, i considered waiting a month so i would be 25 on renewal next year, I spoke to the guy on the phone and he did me a quote for 24 and 25 and there was almost no difference in it, so i went ahead anyway. The main advantage is that it opens up more companies who could possibly give you a cheaper quote, as many just refuse to insure the under 25s, especially on poswerful cars

When I hit 25, my insurance went down £200 (although the 1 yrs ncb probably had more to do with that) and even though I am only on 3rd F&T, I am now insured to drive other peoples cars.
