we always put some water or something in a cup and get the apprentices all dressed up in safety gear and tell them that it is highly explosive "k9p" (canine pee - dog piss), and just get the to walk from one side of the workshop to another really carefully, should see some of their worried little faces. or get them to warm up the glue sticks in there hands before they put them in the hot glue gun.

if you work in a garage ask the youngin to go next door or wherever to the closest garage and ask for some sanitry towels to mop up an oil leak
