been in that car quite a few times, hate it when people you know die, and you couldnt say goodbye

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7728457.stm

The Citroen Saxo driver was David Gwyn Watkins, 18, from Llysfaen, Old Colwyn, and his passenger was Andrew John Glyn McDavid, 18, from the Denbigh area.

An elderly man in the other car, a Rover, is still to be named.

The crash on Thursday lunchtime at Old Colwyn, Conwy was described by fire officer Paul Jenkinson as one of the worst he had seen in a 15-year career.

The road near the former Hotel Seventy degrees was closed for hours after the collision.

Police wanted people to see the wreckage to highlight dangers on the roads.
After the incident, police allowed access to film the wreckage of the cars because they wanted to highlight potential dangers on the road.

Mr Jenkinson, operations manager for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We had two very, very badly damaged cars in the road and we couldn't determine which way they were going - the police are carrying out a full investigation.

Unpleasant circumstances

"We have quite a lot of fatalities and it happens all too frequently in north Wales, it is very unpleasant.

"On arrival at the scene we removed the roof of the car with three people inside to make space to work."

Once the driver's body was removed, the nine firefighters could continue working to rescue the two passengers.

Mr Jenkinson added: "It was unpleasant circumstances and the crew focused on the task to get the remaining two casualties."

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Girl I kinda knew (a good mate of my gfs) died last week in a car crash. The driver hit a tree and she burned to death in the car. It's a shame when you see these kinda things, especially when they are so young.

aparently the lad in the Saxo was overtaking on a corner and went head on into the rover. even if thry both were at 50mph Limit- the impact would have been 100mph. Neither had a chance tbh

I've crashed on the same corner, hit nothing but a pole though. Car was okay as it was only 20mphish.

It's horrible isn't it...........
