dont realy understand why people lift there foot of,
just keep it at the same revs, thats what i tend to do,
hit the corner speed i no will be correct, then slowly press down, and thn once hit a speed i am comfy and safe with kep it there, dont see point in going facer shitting it letting of and dieing
Sometimes there is no choice but to slow down, what if you mincing it round a corner and suddenly you see brake lights in front of you or someone steps out and you have to hit the brakes !
Then should yoube going that fast in that area????????
Look ahead, observations, knowing the road, is there a junction/path/house mid way round the corner that may neeed you to brake hard.
Factors that should be taken into consideration before acting like Senna into that bend on the public road.
JR, yeah, you had fun, but was you "quick"?
You need the full circuit knowledge, what kerbs you can hit at what speeds before it unevens the car/looses momentum, wheres slippery, wheres sticky, ultimate line etc....
Was using it as an example, I don't drive like a 17 year old loon but people do !

i loved mine! was soooo much fun! thats the only thing i really miss tho, it being like a pocket rocket, boring to drive sensibly as its just made of tin, but soo much fun when you drive with a heavy foot which was most of the time. i have a ibiza cupra 1.8 20vt now and its no way near as fun, but its smoother and faster but the 106 feels like your going about 100mph at 40 lol

All this talk about chocolate gearboxes and bits falling off, are you on about cars that are ragged to fuck and have increased power on standard parts?
What are they like reliability wise in standard form

Are you claiming this is a result of lift off oversteer?

No, it's quite clear he can't drive.

watch any classic mini race, and they all do it, its a "characteristic" (sp) of the cars, and they use it too there advantage
The Astra handles like this too, thats why you hold onto the brakes for a short time whilst turning in. Makes the back end go lighter, and on the astra with its wavey ass, you use this weight momentum to pull the back end round the corner taking less stress off the front wheels, hence less chance of understear. Do it right and the nose will hit the apex bang on and you can power through and out the corner.
I've not pushed a saxo hard enough to test this, but it should be perfectly viable in most FWD cars.
Hold the brakes too much though, and expect the rear to overtake you as you slide round and into the gravel trap.

Rofl @ OJC and VXR on here...
'Oh yeh I'll accept that challenge' bla bla...
What challenge?? I don't believe I'm some undiscovered driving talent and I don't believe I'm the best driver in the world.
The reality is... People mock me going 'haha you think you're undiscovered driving talent etc' - I go on track and just drive nice and sensibly my way (not wreckless at all) ... Track days aren't a race.
Yet I don't get any of the people who mock me that are on track passing me at any point? or beating times I've set round tracks like nurburgring for real and not talking about xbox 360s etc.
Ojc it's all very well using the money factor... but if I write off my car (since I have no money) I'd be carless and unable to afford anything to replace it. Therefore I'd too drive quicker if the 'shed' element of not caring if the car was a write off was in place. However this is still a factor for me on track as much as it is for you. It's all relative.
Finally, VXR (daimo) - I disagree with your 'perfect driving through a bend'
quote: Perfect corner.
Straight, brake + gears sorted, turn in, [i
come of brake as it turns in.
Await apex, then re-apply throttle gently until a straight line again when you should be flat out again.
The bit in italics about turning in on the brakes can be used to get a better turn in for the bend, but I wouldn't recommend it if it's not required (i.e. your car doesn't understeer when you turn in normally, as it's likely to catch people out and spin them).
Secondly the bit in bold... From what you've written, from the point you brake to the point you hit the apex you're completely OFF the throttle ... no power going through the front wheels at all???
I disagree with this strongly and in my car if I was to do it, the car would definately lose the back end. (plus be slow as fuck).
I think brake hard straight line, down shift, off the brakes, turn in on the throttle slightly (not enough to understeer, but enough to keep traction and balance) and gently increase / hold throttle (depending on front wheel grip) till apex, then after apex increase throttle to flat out exiting the bend taking a wide line on exit.
Please OJC fucking finish your corsa so you can come on track and cut all this 'oh well it's just because you're car is a shed you don't mind crashing'.
I need more power if you think I have a realistic chance against a well driven Astra VXR though in a 106!!!
Daimo my current PB is 9 min 14 @ nurburg this year with a fucked engine. You're welcome to go over and see how it compares, however it should be easily beatable in your car.
I aim to smash my time next year with a working engine and maybe a cage for safety -> aiming for around 8 mins 50 ish.

That makes you a great driver does it then, ya little "bad boy"
Stearing into overstear in a FWD car will probably do nothing. Theres one other small eliment you need to do to aid overstear in FWD.
Never onced crashed, and have you ever gone fast enough (hence FAR to dangerous) on a public road to encounter it?
The only place you should encounter it is on a track day, otherwise your driving far to fast for the road/conditions.
Edit, actually thats a lie, i've had overstear aided by white lines, and also roundabouts that are covered in diesel arn't particulary friendly either. But driving on a normal road, the grip level should be enough. Other eliments aid a spin.

when the fuck did i say i was a great driver? and yes you can get a fwd car back in line after the rear goes, like i said unless doing rediculous speeds, and no i dont drive particularly fast anymore im no longer 17
