I have a prob at minute where my car has is idling low and cutting out because theres so much crap in the engine its been pushed out through one of the breather pipes and down through the throttle body.

I was told a full engine flush should be done to clear the crap out. Just rang a guy up now who has been recommended to me and he said dont bother with the engine flush stuff because hes had it a couple of times in the past where all the shite ends up in the sump and later on can end up fucking up the engine. So he told me just to clear the oil every 2000 miles or so and get it out that way.

Any one else agree that the engine flush is a bad idea?

i do.. few oil changes every few hundred miles is better.

I've heard on here it's a pretty bad idea. I think the reason was that some of the crap build up actually helps protect a worn engine etc don't quote me on that though

Engine flush is suppose to be used just before an oil change...... so the shit shouldnt be left in the sup to cause problems.
Im about to have mine flushed and will have crap/fresh oil poured through the engine before filling it up with something decent.

Whack some cheap 20/50 oil through mixed 2:1 with diesel.

Or if you're worried about crap being left in the sump, drain the oil and take it off?

Either go into halfrauds they have something in there or just let a garage do it. Im getting a quote for fitment of 2.0l brake upgrade, oil flush + change and coolant flush + change. Leave it there over the day and pick it up later on

Depends really. With an old engine, carbon deposits may be clogging up leaks and flushing them out may cause more hassle than it's worth! As said, flush the engine, change the oil.

Engine flush thins out the oil and other crap so it gets flushed out

It goes into bearings, and can stay in there and when you put in frech oil it will be thinner due to the engine flush still being there

Not 100% accurate but thats roughly what I know

Not really that simple is it.. Getting a sump to re-seal is hard-enough when the engine isnt in the car

if you use engine flush,
when you drain out the engine flush and put new oil in the engine flush that is still in the engine mixes with the new oil and thins it out and yes engine flush can clog up oil pump pick up pipe in the sump and then no oil pressure

used engine flush on my mazda and the engine flush did the main oil seals in

if the problem is that the crap is coming up the breather and into the inlet then send the breather into a catch tank and block up the part on the inlet, should solve the problem
