To drive to an MOT station without MOT or Tax you need insurance.

Colin, you 3rd party insurance only works if the car is already insured on its own policy.

It is perfectly legal to drive to the MoT providing you are insured. It all covered in the RTA (Construction and Use) which makes specific provision for the circumstances you describe.

The same goes for an SVA where you won't even be able to fit number plates as you need the SVA to register the vehicle.

Best of luck with the MoT.

Of course you don't need insurance or tax to get it mot'd, the thread is about what you need to drive to the mot station.

So what if on your way to the mot station you have a bump?

A car needs to be insured anytime that its on a public road.
