If you get called up as a witness, do you reeeeeeealllyy have to go?
An assault case in down as a witness for even though i wasnt there  They havent mentioned it to me either and its at the end of the month, so if they randomly call can i say no?

Mate was up in court for assaulting someone recently, there weren't enough witnesses that turned up for him to get done and nothing happened to those that no showed. Probably by the letter of the law you should but your obviously going to be washing your hair that day.

To be safe I just went to the doctor and made up a story about how I couldn't cope with the stress etc...
He wrote me a note and got off with it  win win

if you don't go, someone could potentially get off/ go down because you don't/
Also the court can send you a witness summons to attend. fail to appear, get arrested and taken by police.
just go, it might even be interesting.
