I took penicillian(sp) when I had it and I felt fine within 5 days.
Sucks how you can get it in the first place though. I had a flu like bug and coz I was vomiting so much, thats what gave my tonsilitus

i had it in july, had high temp and a massive headache, so bad i couldnt sleep and was still going to work for the first few days, people kept telling me to go home as i kept repeating myself and was obviuosly in a bit of a state, then came sore throat, couldnt eat for 2 weeks and lost 20lbs

To be fair, while this is a point. Nearly all diseases will get better if left alone in the non elderly/immunocompromised population.

The key issue is, a week off work, is not just feeling crap for a week, but a weeks lost earnings (potentially) and countless other issues.

I would give a course of Penicillin V tbh.

Enough GP's give enough antibiotics for all the wrong reasons, but IMO yours appears to be a v. good reason. given the confirmed tonsillitis.
