Opinions?
7.5k with delivery miles.
I need a run around for work which does around 25k a year. Really cba mot'ing a car every year, it's a pain in the arse getting it serviced
Not looked after the pug at all. Has a fair few car park dings where doors have hit it and shopping trollies have bashed it. I've ragged the shit out of it which is now starting to show on the cold mornings. My own fault really.. Guy at motorpoint will take £1700 and the pug in exchange. Pug is an 07 with 27k on the clock and FSH. Fezzy and 08 plate with 800 on the clock.
If it's cheaper on fuel that a 1.6 307 that that's a bonus in my book too

1.4TDCi Fiesta will get amazing MPG tbh if you drive it right.
1.6TDCi is the one to go for though.
iirc, the 1.4TDCi has £35/year tax as well will munch the miles and be cheap motoring though

Tax i don't see as an issue really. It's like car insurance, i treat it as another bill which has to be paid.
What will the 1.4TD be like on fuel - bear in mind 99% of my driving is motorway. Currently see close to 500 miles to 55 litres of petty.
The 1.6TDI they had was mega money.
Just not sure i want to drive a small car again

The 1.4TDCi I imagine will be better on the fuel than the 1.6TDCi.
If you drive it with economy in mind, i.e. 70mph - 80mph, then it will return good MPG, and better than your 1.6 petrol 307 without a doubt.
Someone at work has just got a Focus Titanium 1.6TDCi from Perry's for £7k or something. If you wanted a bigger car, this is what I'd go for - that probably has more miles on it and less warranty, but still worth it over the Fiesta imho. The Titanium has loads of fancy goodies on it, like a mix between Ghia & Zetec.
All that MPG crap is not talking from experience by the way, just presumptions.

Looked at Corsa Ds but think they are a little over priced at the minute. Astra is nice but again, not sure i want to part with the cash

Deano, i don't need a big car now. Got the pug when my nan was alive so we could take her out - needed the boot space etc.

1.4TDCi Fiesta will be perfect then really. Especially as it fills all your criteria. Cheap to run, warranty, no MOT for 3 years, cheap tax (even though it doesn't matter) cheap insurance, everything. It will be fine on the motorway, and by being sensible (70-80mph, after all, 70mph is the speed limit) you'll have years of trouble free motoring.
Go and test drive to see if you like it though

the 1.4tdci will be ok... Expect it to have faults with its leakoff pipes, and for cylinder one injector to blow its seal which melts the manifold... Other than that they are ok... Tbh i'd go for the 1.6tdci 90 which is the better engine! Ford use peugeot engines in there fiesta's and focus's so i should know as i've worked for both companys

My work colleague who has bought the Focus was originally getting one from the dealership near work. It was up for £9k, and he instantly got them down to £8k.
At Perry's (I don't know what the starting price was, but) he got it down to £7k.
The original garage wouldn't budge on the Fiesta Zetec S 1.6TDCi, 'cause it's so cheap to run I guess. So not sure you'll get much with the 1.4TDCi either. Worth a try though

For my old company, we had a 1.4 diesel Fiesta as a company car (travelling via different sites across hundreds of miles) and considering I have done over 40,000 miles in the same car, I think I can fairly give you an accurate answer.
They're shite. The engines themselves pull well enough for it's size I suppose, but you have to rev them quite hard, and the road noise at 60mph is unbareable. Getting up to 70-80mph is easy enough if you dont care about your ear drums. If you've got your heart set on one, make sure they're post 2005 (the facelifts) as the mirrors on the pre-facelifts looked like they were from a kids toy. Couldn't see fuck all out of them. Great standard stereo system though.
If you don't mind any of this, then my all means buy it. If not, just get an older car and save your money by starting 'to be arsed' with MOTs and such like. The depriciation on new cars is attrocious at the minute.

i actually build the 1.4 tdci engines that go in the mk6 fiesta at work.
they get about 70mpg if driven normally.
very good engines.
oh and yeah, the 1.6 tdci engines are much better
1.4 tdci is 68ps, we also make a 1.6tdci 90ps and a 1.6 tdci 110ps.

No pow. For the Fiesta, he gives £1700 cash AND the Peugeot in part exchange. In other words he is getting £5800 (if my maths is right) for the Peugeout.
