fuck the police!
unless of course you, your family or your friend has been robbed, burgled, stolen from, murdered, assaulted or anything else in which case you will be wanting the police to deal with it, do everything they can to solve it, get stuff back, catch the criminal, ensure justice is served etc etc
When you say fuck the police, just remember you might need us someday, and an attitude like that will not get me going beyond the necessities of my duty to help you, rest assured.

I was actually saying that tongue in cheek- but since you have climbed up on your high horse - I know how you guys like to be on a horse towering over your subjects
in my experience this has not been the service that I have been given by our wonderful police force.
I had my car nicked - they couldnt have cared less- never got it back, never caught the guy - I did however get a lovely crime number.
My mate got glassed- they gave him and the guy who did it a public disorder fine and wouldnt even give us a lift away from the gang of blokes that were after us for no apparant reason
I broke up a fight in oxford - Im laid on top of one of the guys who started the fight waiting for the police to arrive - I end up spending a night in jail while I 'sober up.(I had 2 pints that night)
I know these are one off cases but dont try and tell me the police do a good job- Thames Valley Police are shit - unless you are breaking the speed limit then they are very efficiant.
I appreciate the police do a tough job, and we rely on them - but you are not super heros, I do not have to respect you just because your a police man. You do a job that my taxes pay you to do and in my own experiance the service we get isnt good enough.

Some good stuff in there. I don't expect to be liked and I don't expect everyone to think I do a good job. As long as I know that I'm doing the best I can despite all the nonsense that seems to come from various places (mainly the Home Office) then I'm happy. I can tell you now that I like nothing more than locking up Burglars, car thieves, robbers and general nasty bits of work who like nothing better than kicking peoples heads in for a laugh it gives me a nice warm feeling inside. However I do spend a ridiculous amount of my time dealing with people who just can't seem to live like adults and think that the Police are there to deal with text messages from ex partners, bring up their children and generally sort out their lives as they are too lazy to do it themselves (you honestly do have to see it to believe some of the jobs we get sent to). Unfortunately the age of common sense is dead and until it returns we will just have to continue to do our best inspite of the system.

agree with that 100%.
Why is it you mention the word harassment and suddenly there have been loads of calls, texts, then you get ' i want a warning given', blah blah blah!! just grow up and stop behaving like a child!!

I work with the Police and i'm awaiting my results from my interviews to join.
99% of the coppers are absolutely sound. As with any organisation, there are 1 or 2 that aren't that nice or are a bit of an idiot. I'd wager that most of the people that have a problem with the Police are the ones that have something to hide or have probably been caught doing something they shouldn't have been doing. To echo what has already been said, a lot of the stuff that the Police deal with is stuff that any decent person with an ounce of common sense could deal with themself.

I've never been in trouble with the police, only had experiences of them when they have been needed for something, like 20 guys attacking 1 or something small lik ethat ( ) and they are nowhere to be seen until hours later, totally useless.
They're about everytime you need a piss at 3am though.
I know this doesn't apply to everybody and some people actually want to be in the police, it's one of the latest i'm not very good at anything else so I think i'll apply jobs.
