for that price i can't really see you getting much better. high def is the new technology so you will pick most standard defenition camcorders at very reasonable prices.

Would look at a decent SD cam, as you're not going to pick up a HD cam worth having for that price.

If you can stretch another 100 quid or so, you can pick up a 3CCD cam (look at panasonics) that would be worth having and the image quality will be better than any single CCD handycam.

Also, don't get a mini-DVD cam, worse things in the world, especially if you wish to edit the things. Stick to mini-DV!

im not tclever with this

so this one JVC GZ-MG330

it has an internal harddrvie so doesnt need tapes?
but it is HD and isnt as good as the newer 3CCD vameras

this one Panasonic NV-GS230
is the 3CCD and requires the wee tapes?

the JVC is £200
and panasonic £300

is it worth the extra £100
some reports say it is poor in low light

serious advice here mate. get down your local camera shop and ask them for a demo. if they want a sale they should demo every aspect of the camera. get them to show you the procedure for connection to a pc. get them to show you how well it performs inside/outside/in low light, etc.
