Makes me think of ''Valver on TB's running 200bhp Vs a standard LET''
Torque is as how hard an object can be moved, and bhp is how fast an object can be moved. Is that right?

Having alot of one and not the other is never going to be as good as having both. End of.

at the end of the day, it was tiff nedell who said the ep3 civic type r was a real drivers car, better than a clio 182; he is a professional racing driver. Who give a shit about torque, the "torqueless" civic beat it round a track, all this bollocks about this car being quicker than that, blah blah is just room to brag about it in the pub. Depends if you can driver properly really don't it, if you can keep it in the revs, then I'm pretty sure msot diesels would wallow into a tree trying to keep with a honda

The clio is a high revving n/a engine also, without checking the torque figures won't be far apart, don't see what that proves?

many people claim they are fast and then reckon things like civics aren't, that's my point, everyone makes these claims but at the end of the day, they aren't really that true are they

The clio isn't that fast either though, fun to drive round a track, not that fast.
A diesel that handles as well and is faster than the civic will still beat the civic all else being equal.
There are a millions variables.

A Clio 172 cup is just as fast as a Civic Type R. And a Clio has around 150lb/ft iirc so it's a pretty well balanced engine!

about as much as a gerbil on its wheel ??
edit . would a rat be faster than a gerbil? and would the rat have more torque than the gerbil?

Oh and an example worth bearing in mind was when Clarkson and Hammond had a race around the track in a Mini Cooper and a Skoda Fabia VRS.It was the Skodas high torque figure that won it for the Skoda.

well yeah but you could see him all over him in the corners; I love fabias tbh, but I just don't think against a person in a decent n/a car who knows how to use the power effectively, that there would be a chance.

My remapped fabia was only slightly slower than my 172.
172 would outhandle it but it wouldn't beat it by as much as you seem to think.
Standard fabia wouldn't have a chance.

bhp is how quick you hit the wall
torque is how far you push the wall down the road

Ex F1 driver Martin Brundle summed it up well
"BHP is how FAST the engine turns,
Torque is how HARD the engine turns"
Pretty basic explanation that sums it up well
