Right i've been toying with idea of a cheap fun project for a while now, and was thinking doing a xe/let conversion into a stripped out corsa/nova (kitcar idea died a death unfortunately).
So the question is which is liable to leave me with the better handling/performing car in the end, starting from a nova or a corsa? Bearing in mind there is potential for some handling mods aswell (Arb, suspension etc).

Neil, Ollie here. Your neighbours mate, Astra VXR etc etc.
I would start with a Corsa, base shell. Needn't be a high spec Corsa as you will be most likely binning everything that is on the car anyway.
You can get 1.2LS for £300 quid in fairly decent condition these days.
The trouble with using a Nova is rott rott and more rott and the trouble with that is you will have to spend money on getting that sorted before you even start modifiying it. That said, Nova does handle better once modified with the usual upgrades due to be lighter and having a sharper turn in.
Need any help, give me a shout.

As said, a cheap Corsa is a good route. Try and get a non-sunroof etc one so that it's less weigh to begin with! Or why not get something like a cheap XSi 106 and 16v it? Will be just as quick.

Go with a Corsa mate, its getting harder and harder to find a decent Nova, there are plenty of decent Corsas about for good prices. Good luck

Neil stated that he would like a Nova or Corsa, so with that in mind offering advice on what he has asked is probably going to be more beneficial.
