However I do know a lot of construction companies in the NE are struggling and I wouldn't be surprised to see a number of established companies struggle over the next year or so.
Carillion are a good compay to work for mate, I was with them as a QS for a year, was a bit gutted it was just a temporary contract tbh. Your not building schools by anychance are you?

Personally (if I felt my job was under threat) I would be looking towards the Olympic contractors/subbies...
I'm nervous about big projects being cancelled, dont get wrong. But at the moment everything is still going ahead... touch wood

I just dont understand how Wimpeys, such a large company, will have gone pop by Christmas, and us, a small limited company, are still building. It could have an advantage when things pick up as the houses will already be built, ready to be moved into.
Also news has it Bellways are about bust too, dont know how true this is...
Recently sold a lot of houses to a company called Anningtons, who rent houses to the MOD but that was a few months back now. Had nothing since and still building. He said yesterday that he is going to carry on, so hopefully i'll still be with a job.
Interesting to read about everyones companies etc and how they getting on across the country

Our sites for Bellway are forging ahead, they seem to be the only client of ours that actually wants to build atm. Maybe thats why they are struggling, building the houses and no one to sell too, gamble you take i suppose.

Thats all we are doing, have only sold 2 houses privately, rest are army rented!
Boss just said he knew it was going to happen so if he wanted to give up he woulda done years ago. Gave away a site that the Middlesbrough chairman has bought next to their training ground, 20 £1million houses, but got someone else in to build them. Dont understand why really....

My dad only has work with Bellway. What has saved them is the 'social' housing which is guaranteed to sell is sort of mixed in with the private, therefore they have to build all. They're releasing plots very slowly so something isn't half started if they want to stop etc.
