No it doesn't . Ignoring engines (these are always carried over in one form or another from model to model, regardless of band), the focus Mk2 has a totally different chassis to the Mk1
To quote Autocar on the lanch of the Mk2 "Working with a new body structure that is 10 per cent stiffer than before, the front and rear suspensions have been heavily revised. A stronger front subframe allows significantly uprated dampers to provide better control at the front, while the new control blade rear layout is now equally robust. Uprated bushing has been tuned to remain rigid under lateral loads and yet remain compliant fore and aft, benefiting the ride. The result, Ford claims, is significantly better than the old car.
So how is that the same chassis and suspension?

Correct. Simply a quick freshen up, no differences mechanically. Would help if we're talking about the same car I suppose
To confirm my point about the Mk6 being simply a facelift, it has exactly the same 2580mm wheelbase /1540mm front track / 1520mm rear track as the Mk5.
Nice ST by the way Ben

cheers
the only thing with companies bringing out facelifts is that the model before it which is basicaly the same car underneath but cosmetically different, tends to lose a big chunk of it's value over a short period
