Well yesterday (Friday) I woke up and off I went to work as any normal day... 10am I get a phonecall off my Dad about a Uni course I had been looking at for possibly next year, saying I have an unconditional place on the course starting on Monday if I want it...Well I made one of the biggest decisions of my life and thought "Sod it, im going absolutely nowhere in my current job with too many empty promises of further educational training" and have decided to take it. I gave my work half a day's notice about me leaving (caused a big uproar but what the hell!) Starting Monday Im offically a student of Swansea Metropolitan Uni.... I'm over the moon and cant belive I have actually followed my heart and gone ahead and done it at such short noitice. I cant wait! Its been the strangest day of my life... One minute its same shit different day and tomorrow, I am leaving my Family and Friends behind to start the next step of my life. Im sad about some of the great friends and Family members I am no longer going to have living just down the road for the unforeseen future but im so so happy that Ive turned a corner in my life. Its still not all sank in!

good luck, just dont go down the route of most uni students, when they come out of uni and go straight into a dead end job...

If you want to get a decent job in motorsport your going to have to knuckle down, as much as a laugh uni is its important to get the grades, with it you can land decent work experience placements. Its all about putting yourself out there. Alot of people do interns with caterham teams I think, bradfincham would be worth talking to. Dont think he uses the site anymore though.

Well there is no harm in trying/having a goal in life. I have known for a while where I have wanted to head with my career. Its just taken me some time and self belief that I can actually do it and I that im a step closer to my goal.
I am now 22. If I had gone at the age of 18/19, I would have been sidetracked with parting etc. Im alot more mature than I was then and I know ive got the right attitude in my mind and know I am a capable/willing right now

There is lots of competition for jobs in motorsport, and lots of students leaving with degrees. My advice is to seperate yourself from the rest by getting involved with everything the uni has to offer, and get as much practical experience as you can.
From my experience, out of 60 students that did my course, only around 5 could walk into a job in motorsport.

I just finished my motorsport degree, getting a job in that field will not be easy

Stop getting all pissy as you're in a dead end job loading bins into the back of a truck.
