I havent bought a ford before and ive not owned one either so im abit of a virgin when it comes to notorious problems or things i should look out, if anyone has any handy pointers it'd be greatly appreciated if you could let me know them

Think people will tell you to check the oil usage (cant do this unless you actually buy it tho obv) and I guess rusty arches on a Ford?

Rusty rear arches and the immediately behind the doors.
They're pretty straight forward, My missus' Z-S uses a lot of oil so you need to keep on that if you do buy it.

Check the obvious points; check the oil level before he's started the car, have a poke about under the bonnet, check the oil cap and fluid levels. The exhausts rust like mad on these so don't be put off by a blowing exhaust, just use it to argue the price down a bit.

Check for wear and tear on the seats/steering wheel against the shown mileage; if it seems overworn for such few miles, suspect a ringer. W was 2000 if I'm correct so the cars only done an average of 7000miles per year.

the steering wheel; especially on a blue Z-S will be worn and scuffed and most of the blue colour will have worn off so once again don't let this put you off.

Check receipts/paperwork/past MOT certificates for accuracy and mileage.

The steering wheel wear isn't colour specific, the silver and blue ones had blue wheels, which wear, the red and black ones had red wheels, which wear

There shouldn't really be any major rust on the body, if there is, ask questions or walk away, you'll find another.

As said, everything been mentioned, especially the oil consumption.

Another thing is the bush arm things are prone to wear on these causing uneven tyre wear, so that is something to look out - relatively cheap repair though.
